African American Environmentalist Association (AAEA) www.aaenvironment.com AAEA was founded in 1985, and is a national, nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to protecting the environment, enhancing human, animal and plant ecologies, promoting the efficient use of natural resources and increasing African American participation in the environmental movement.

American Indian / Alaska Native Employee’s Association for Natural Resources Conservation Service (AIANEA) www.aianea.comAIANEA is a national association that believes in the conservation of our natural resources, the value of traditional wisdom, the power of education and the beauty of diversity.

Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN) www.apen4ej.org APEN seeks to empower low-income Asian Pacific Islander (API) communities to achieve environmental and social justice. APEN believes that the environment includes everything around us: where we live, work and play. Additionally they strive to build grassroots organizations that will improve the health, well-being and political strength of our communities.

Asian Pacific Islander Organization USDA (APIO) www.apio.orgAPIO aims provide leadership to achieve full participation in all USDA programs and services; that individuals and their neighbors work together as effective and willing stewards of natural resources in their communities. AIPO seeks healthy and productive land that sustains food and fiber production, sustains functioning watersheds and natural systems, enhances the environment, and improves urban and rural landscapes. It desires utilization of a diverse workforce, which will serve to better understand the needs of the APA community.

Council of Energy Resource Tribes (CERT) www.certredearth.comCERT was founded by Indian Tribes out of necessity and out of a profound sense of collective self-confidence; the confidence that they could chart a new course of prudent development that would address Tribal priorities and values while contributing to a more secure energy future for all Americans.

Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN) www.ienearth.org Established in 1990 within the United States, IEN was formed by grassroots Indigenous peoples and individuals to address environmental and economic justice issues. IEN's activities include building the capacity of Indigenous communities and tribal governments to develop mechanisms to protect our sacred sites, land, water, air, natural resources, health of both our people and all living things, and to build economically sustainable communities.

Interim National Black Environmental & Economic Justice Coordinating Committee (INBEEJCC) www.ejrc.cau.eduINBEEJCC seeks to assist, support, train, and educate people of color, students, professionals, and grassroots community leaders with the goal of facilitating their inclusion into the mainstream of environmental decision-making.

Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) http://www4.nau.edu/itep/ ITEP was established in 1992 with a vision to assist Indian Tribes in the management of their environmental resources through effective training and education programs.

Minority Environmental Leadership Development Initiative (MELDI) www.umich.edu/~meldi/ Though the number of minorities in the population has been rising steadily, relatively few minorities are hired in a professional capacity in the environmental field. A number of factors may account for this. MELDI believes that career and leadership development is an important factor that can enhance the status of minorities in the environmental field.

National Coalition of Hispanic Health and Human Services Organizations www.cehn.org/cehn/resourceguide/nchhhso.html (COSSHMO) The mission of the COSSHMO is to improve the health and well-being of Hispanics. Issues covered include the full range of health and human services issues, including environmental health.

National Hispanic Environmental Council (NHEC) www.nheec.org NHEC seeks to educate, unite, and engage our community on environmental and sustainable development issues; to encourage Hispanics to actively work to preserve and protect our environment; provide a national voice for Hispanics before federal, state, and non-profit environmental decision-makers; and actively assist Hispanics to pursue the many career, business, educational, and policy opportunities in the environment and natural resources field.

National Organization of Professional Hispanic Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Employees www.nrcs.usda.gov/intranet/hispanic/ The organization’s primary mission is to motivate and mentor members for leadership roles to assist NRCS and partners in delivering natural resources conservation.

National Tribal Environmental Council (NTEC) www.ntec.org NTEC is a membership organization dedicated to working with and assisting tribes in the protection and preservation of the reservation environment. Its mission is to enhance each tribe's ability to protect, preserve and promote the wise management of air, land and water for the benefit of current and future generations.

Native Americans and the Environment (NAE) http://cnie.org/NAE/NAE’s goals are: to educate the public on environmental problems in Native American communities; to explore the values and historical experiences that Native Americans bring to bear on environmental issues; to promote conservation measures that respect Native American land and resource rights.

Network of Indian Environment Professionals http://grou.ps/niep Network of Indian Environment Professionals links Indian and International Environment and Nature Professionals and Organizations in a Global Network that establishes International standards for best professional communication and effective performance. Itinspires Environment and Nature Professionals to network with each other in a web of relationship and sell Green, Energy efficient and eco-friendly products, services and innovations to the Indian and International Community in direct competition to the established sectors of the economy.

Minority Environmental Lawyers Association (MELA) www.concentric.net/~Mstanisl/ is not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting equity in the practice and application of environmental law. MELA's diverse membership includes African, Asian, Latino and Native-Americans. MELA's activities include promoting diversity in the hiring of environmental professionals and advocacy for the achievement of environmental justice.

Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) www.manrrs.org/ is a non-profit organization. The members of this society pledge to support endeavors that will always foster and promote the agricultural sciences and related fields in a positive manner among ethnic minorities. They also pledge to initiate and participate in activities and programs that will ensure that ethnic minorities will also be involved in and associated with the agricultural sciences and related fields. They pledge to work for the inclusion, achievement, and advancement of all people in the agricultural sciences.

NON-ENVIRONMENTAL

American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) www.aises.org A national, nonprofit organization which nurtures building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native values. Through its educational programs, AISES provides opportunities for American Indians and Native Alaskans to pursue studies in science, engineering, and technology arenas. The trained professionals then become technologically informed leaders within the Indian community. AISES' ultimate goal is to be a catalyst for the advancement of American Indians and Native Alaskans as they seek to become self-reliant and self-determined members of society.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Board on Minorities and Women www.asme.org ASME is dedicated to presenting information about programs and issues related to increasing the participation of women and underrepresented minority groups in ASME and making the ASME a welcome home for all engineers.

Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP) www.aaip.com AAIP is dedicated to pursuing excellence in Native American health care by promoting education in the medical disciplines, honoring traditional healing practices and restoring the balance of mind, body, and spirit. AAIP members are very active in medical education, cross-cultural training between western and traditional medicine, and assisting Indian communities.

Center for the Advancement of Hispanics in Science and Engineering Education (CAHSEE) www.cahsee.org CAHSEE is a national educational and scientific non-profit organization based in Washington DC created by Latino scientists and engineers. Their mission is to prepare talented Hispanic and other underrepresented minority science and engineering students achieve academic excellence and professional success through CAHSEE's pipeline of rigorous educational and leadership development programs.

International Society of African Scientists (ISAS) www.africa.upenn.edu/Org_Institutes/Menu_ISAS.html ISAS promotes the advancement of science and technology among peoples of African descent. It provides a medium through which scientists and engineers can channel their skills to solve technical problems facing Africa and the Caribbean. The current membership represents a wide range of nationalities from Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas. Membership is open to all who share the goals of the Society.

Minority Health Professions Foundation (MHPF) www.minorityhealth.orgMHPF is dedicated to providing the highest level of support for the advancement of professional development, education, research and community service for minorities. In addition, we work diligently to ensure that the advancement of health professions among minorities works directly to serve the health and wellness of our often-underserved communities.

National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) www.nacme.orgNACME seeks to provide leadership and support for the national effort to increase the representation of successful African American, American Indian and Latino women and men in engineering and technology, math- and science-based careers.

National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) www.thehispanicnurses.orgNAHN strives to serve the nursing and health care delivery needs of the Hispanic community and the professional needs of Hispanic nurses. NAHN is designed and committed to work toward improvement of the quality of health and nursing care for Hispanic consumers and toward providing equal access to educational, professional, and economic opportunities for Hispanic nurses.

National Black Nurses Association, Inc. (NBNA) www.nbna.orgNBNA aims to define and determine nursing care for black consumers for optimum quality of care acting as their advocates Act as a change agent in restructuring existing institutions and/or helping to establish institutions to suit our needs. Serve as the national nursing body to influence legislation and policies that affect Black people and work cooperatively and collaboratively with other health workers to this end.

National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) www.nhmamd.org The mission of the organization is to improve the health of Hispanics and other underserved populations. As a rapidly growing national resource based in the nation's capital, NHMA provides policymakers and health care providers with expert information and support in strengthening health service delivery to Hispanic communities across the nation.

National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) www.nobcche.org The mission of NOBCChE is to build an eminent community of scientists and engineers by increasing the number of minorities in these fields. NOBCChE will achieve its mission through diverse programs designed to foster professional development and encourage students to pursue careers in science and technical fields, and to establish educational partnerships with school districts, municipalities, businesses, industries, other institutions and organizations in the public and private sectors.

National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) http://national.nsbe.org/ NSBE's mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) www.nsbp.orgThe purpose and mission of the NSBP is to promote the professional well-being of African American physicists within the international scientific community and within society at large. The organization seeks to develop and support efforts to increase opportunities for African Americans in physics and to increase their numbers and visibility of their scientific work.

Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) www.ksea.org/ KSEA is a non-profit professional organization. Its objectives are to promote the application of science and technology for the general welfare of society, foster international cooperation especially between the U.S. and Korea, and help Korean-American Scientists and Engineers develop their full career potential.

National Technical Association (NTA) www.ntaonline.orgNTA is dedicated to: encourages minority youth and women to choose careers in science and technology; creates access and opportunity to science/technology careers through academic preparation and awareness; builds networks for practitioners and educators in fields of science and technology; and recognizes, honoring, and preserving the legacy of minority pioneers in technological fields

Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) www.sacnas.orgThe mission of SACNAS is to encourage Chicano/Latino and Native American students to pursue graduate education and obtain the advanced degrees necessary for science research, leadership, and teaching careers at all levels.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) www.shpe.org SHPE is the leading social-technical organization whose primary function is to enhance and achieve the potential of Hispanics in engineering, math and science. SHPE promotes the development of Hispanics in engineering, science and other technical professions to achieve educational excellence, economic opportunity and social equity.

Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) www.awg.orgAWG is an international organization devoted to enhancing the quality and level of participation of women in the geosciences and to introducing girls and young women to geoscience careers. The top ten specialties that make up the 43 specialties of AWA, in order are: Environmental Geology, Paloentology-paloebiology, Geochemistry, Hydrogeology, General Geology, Geophysics, Petrology, Geomorphology, Groundwater, Sedimentology. Membership is open to all who support AWG's goals.

Membership is open to all persons within the paper industry who pay and keep current their dues. Our objectives are to enhance the awareness, visibility, and effectiveness of both women and men within the paper industry. Committee on Women in Science and Engineering (CWSE)www.nationalacademies.org/cwse/ (CWSE) was established in 1991 as a standing committee of the National Research Council (NRC). CWSE’s mandate is to coordinate, monitor, and advocate action to increase the participation of women in science and engineering. The committee collects and disseminates information on the education and employment of women scientists and engineers, and recommends ways to enhance women’s advancement

Graduate Women in Science - Sigma Delta Epsilon (GWIS) www.gwis.org GWIS is an interdisciplinary society of scientists who encourage and support women to enter and achieve success in science. The society's Web page includes fellowships, an online discussion group, activities, publications, plus links to other websites related to women in the sciences.

Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS) www.twows.org TWOWS is an association of scientists promoting the research efforts and training opportunities of women scientists in the Third World.

Women in Engineering Programs and Advocates Network (WEPAN) www.wepan.org WEPAN's mission is to be a catalyst for change to enhance the success of women in the engineering profession.

Society of Women Engineers http://societyofwomenengineers.swe.org/The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. Chemists with Disabilities (CDW) http://membership.acs.org/C/CWD/ CWD strives to inform chemistry educators and employers of scientific and technical personnel about the capabilities and contributions of chemical professionals who happen to have physical, sensory, or learning disabilities. The committee's mission is to promote opportunities, both educational and professional, for persons with disabilities interested in pursuing careers in chemistry and in fields requiring the knowledge of chemistry, and demonstrate the capabilities of those persons to educators, employers, and peers.

Foundation for Science and Disability (FSD) http://www.as.wvu.edu/~scidis/organize/fsd.html FSD was founded in 1975 as a non-profit organization. FSD seeks to promote the integration of scientists with disabilities into all activities of the scientific community and of society as a whole and to promote the removal of barriers in order to enable students with disabilities to choose careers in science.

Association for Persons with Disabilities in Agriculture (APDA) www.apda.usda.gov APDA is an employee association celebrating diversity within USDA. Some of their objectives are to facilitate employment and advancement opportunities for persons with disabilities within USDA, to ensure inclusion of USDA employees with disabilities in all USDA programs, to identify and eliminate discrimination and other barriers to equal employment and advancement at USDA, and to educate and promote awareness.

National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals (NOGLSTP) www.noglstp.org NOGLSTP is a national organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people (and their advocates) employed or interested in scientific or high technology fields.
