Volunteering to improve the quality of life locally, nationally and globally is an invaluable way to develop your skills, take on greater responsibility, meet new people and gain perspective into the diverse nature of our world. With over 160 community partnerships and growing, ESF is continuously collaborating with community organizations. Numerous volunteer opportunities are available in the Syracuse community and beyond; one-time, group and ongoing.
You may find yourself interested in a number of student organizations that incorporate
community service as part of their missions. These include Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Xi Sigma, Student Environmental Action Coalition, Engineers without Borders, Franciscan Earth Corps, Habitat for Humanity, and many more.
The ESF Office of Student Life and Experiential Learning also facilitates community service opportunities. Each semester ESF has a Campus Day of Service, and at the beginning of every fall semester ESF invites community organizations on campus for our Volunteer Fair. Make sure to check out the Community Service calendar on this page, the Volunteer Opportunities bulletin board on the first floor of Bray, the Student Activities e-mail updates, and posters around campus for upcoming and ongoing volunteer opportunities. You may also contact
ESF’s community service and service-learning coordinator, Elizabeth Mix, to organize or find a volunteer activity. If you have a volunteer opportunity you would like ESF to know about, submit a Volunteer Event form.
After you complete any volunteer work, whether it’s one-time, ongoing or in a group, make sure to document your hours by submitting a Community Service Reporting Form.
