Academic Success and New Student Programs
Scott J. Blair, M.Ed.
Academic Success and New Student Programs Coordinator
Scott has been a member of the Student Affairs staff at SUNY-ESF since 2008 and oversees the operation of the Academic Support Services Office and its' principal programs such as the Peer Tutoring Program, the Academic Success Center, and academic support for students on academic probation. Blair also oversees critical elements of the First-Year Experience by directing such programs as the First-Year Learning Team, First-Year Student Retreats, academic aspects of First-Year student orientation and the First-Year Mentor program. At ESF, Blair serves on numerous committees and is a 2010 recipient of the SUNY-ESF Undergraduate Student Association Special Recognition Award for service to students. Blair also has served as a Writing Program Instructor at ESF and is currently the head coach of the college's men's basketball program.
Prior to joining ESF, Mr. Blair spent time as a Residence Director for the Office of Residence Life at Syracuse University. While a member of their staff, Blair ran a variety of programs while also acting as a co-chair for the department's Diversity Committee.
A member of the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), Mr. Blair holds a Master of Education degree in Higher Education-Administration from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. During his graduate school experience, Scott served as a graduate assistant for the Student Support Services Program and Trio Programs and also for the Office of New Student Programs & Services. Scott also holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Kutztown University in Secondary Education-English.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela and a native of Pennsylvania, Scott and his wife Katie reside in Liverpool with their daughter Sydney.
Program Coordinator for Academic Support Services
Casey is entering her first year as a member of the Student Affairs staff at SUNY-ESF and is the primary point person for the Academic Support Services Office and Academic Success Center in the Moon Library. She oversees the daily operations of the office along with direct oversight of the Peer Tutor Program, related tutor training seminars, and Academic Success Workshops.
Casey is a graduate of the University of Tampa and is currently pursuing her Masters in Higher Education at Syracuse University.
Peer Tutor Coordinator
Sam is entering her third year as a member of the staff in the Academic Support Services Office, 2013-14 her first as our Peer Tutor Coordinator. Sam oversees the scheduling of our tutors for our Peer Tutoring Program and assists the office in monitoring weekly usage and attendance of our available tutoring opportunities.
Sam is a junior Environmental Studies major at ESF and also serves as Head Orientation Leader and Mentor.
