Setting Up FrontPage to Connect with WebDAV
New connection/configuration info
You must change how you specify the server you access to the following form:
https://wwwpublish.esf.edu,
https://cwwpublish.esf.edu or
https://campuspublish.esf.edu
Note the use of "https" instead of "http" and the addition of "publish" to each server's address (bold NOT needed).
From a microsoft.com assistance page entitled, Publish your Web site to an FTP or WebDAV server...
- Using FrontPage 2003, you start by authoring a local or disk-based Web site and then you put, get, synchronize, or publish it to exchange file with the remote copy of
the site on the FTP-based or WebDAV-based Web server.
In FrontPage, a local Web site is the source Web site that is opened in FrontPage. This can include your desktop or laptop computer. A remote Web site is the destination site that you publish to in this case, an FTP-base or WebDAV-based server. You can synchronize the two sites to ensure that both copies are up to date.
You set the ... WebDAV connection parameters in the Remote Web Site Properties dialog box. The user interface is extremely straightforward. The connection parameters are readily available the first time you set up the local copy of the site, and they are easy to find thereafter."
NOTES:
- In the "Remote web site location" field, enter the full address of the web folder you wish to access, beginning with https:// (as shown in the image) -- e.g., https://wwwpublish.esf.edu/efb/faculty.
- Check the "Encrypted connection required (SSL)" box.
