Message from the Interim Vice President for Research
Research at ESF is remarkably diverse, current and challenging, with contributions being made in fields like aquatic ecosystems; bioenergy; biotechnology; biodiversity; chemical engineering; ecology of plants, animals, and microorganisms; genetic engineering; nanotechnology; remote sensing; wildlife biology and disease prevention, and many others. ESF is a leader in integrating the energy and excitement of research with the formal requirements of degree and certificate programs. A high percentage of undergraduates and virtually all graduate students participate in research activity as part of their educational experience.
Led by the VP of Research, the Division of Research is made up of the Office of Research Programs (ORP), the Office of Research Finance, and Analytical and Technical Services (A&TS). The Division seeks to stimulate, facilitate and highlight research at ESF, and strives to make research opportunities at the College as broad and achievable as possible. We are the central resource for the initiation, funding and management of all ESF research activity.
The Division of Research works in conjunction with The Research Foundation for the State University of New York (RFSUNY). RFSUNY is a private, nonprofit corporation under contract to the State University of New York (SUNY) for the administration of sponsored research and programs conducted by faculty and staff at SUNY's sixty-four campuses. The RFSUNY assumes fiduciary responsibility for sponsored fund activities on behalf of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
I welcome you to explore our departments to learn more.
