Personal Statement The journey of my higher education began with agronomic studies and specialization in soil science at the "Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Agronomie" (Algeria). My interest in GIS and remote sensing applications started growing after a first exposure to precision farming concepts. My passion for technology and innovations in computer science pushed me to further explore these two disciplines. My first Master thesis focused on using SAR data to map surface soil moisture in a semiarid area in Algeria. After that, I got a full scholarship from the international center for higher agronomic studies in the Mediterranean (CIHEAM) and enrolled in the Master of Science program "Geoinformation in environmental management" at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute in Chania (Greece). My thesis work was focused on land cover mapping in the Mitidja plain - North Algeria.
My goal here at SUNY ESF is to develop essential programming skills and a strong numeric and statistical background, necessary to address key environmental issues using remote sensing data. Personal Statement Working as an undergraduate research assistant for the Senior Scientist of UNH's Stormwater Center sparked my curiosity of water resources engineering. I had a key role in collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing stormwater and soil samples, thus, furthering my interest in the use of green infrastructure/ best management practices. I want to build a strong presence in the field of environmental resources engineering, and continue to innovate systems that can manage and/or treat water resources in a most effective, least invasive way. Graduate Research Topic Optimizing Biofiltration Systems for Effectiveness of Nutrient Reduction in Stormwater Runoff Favorite Quote "It's not an adventure if everything goes right." -unknown Research Interests water resources, stormwater management, water quality, green infrastructure, soil physics, water chemistry, waste management

LinkedIn Web Link Personal Statement I have a BSc and MSc in Geomatics Engineering from Tabriz University, and K. N. Toosi University of Technology in Iran with focus on remote sensing and photogrammetry and has been the first-class student in both by BSc and MSc. My experience is on machine learning and computer vision for photogrammetric applications such as processing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV aka Drone) imagery. I am skilled in many professional software packages in the field of geospatial analysis, remote sensing and photogrammetry (e.g. PiX4D, AGISoft, ArcGIS). I am also skilled in Visual Basic(VBA), MATLAB and Python programming. Graduate Research Topic Currently, my PhD research here at ESF is centered on developing and advancing algorithms for processing UAV images with application in 3D forest modeling at very detailed scales under supervision of Dr. Bahram Salehi. I have also played volleyball for many years at the university and provincial levels and currently am a member of Syracuse volleyball team. Undergraduate Institution University Of Tabriz, Tabriz, Iran Master Graduate Institution K.N.Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran Previous Graduate Institution York University, Toronto, Canada Research interests UAV, Close, Aerial, and Satellite Photogrammetry / Remote Sensing / Computer Vision / Machine Learning / Image Processing / Mapping and Navigation / SFM / Programming / Artificial Neural Networks

Personal Statement Growing up hunting and fishing with my dad, I developed a deep appreciation for the natural world. In an effort to save and conserve our environment I chose to pursue a graduate education in environmental engineering. At ESF, I'm working with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to compost non-marketable paper products that otherwise enter landfills, such as wax-corrugated cardboard. My thesis is not yet finalized, but I'm interested in the biological, both microbial and mycological, mechanisms of paper degradation in composting systems. Graduate Research Topic Composting Non-Marketable Wastepaper Products Favorite Quote "We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a commodity to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect." - Aldo Leopold
