Undergraduate Institution: National Higher School of Agro (Agronomy / Soil scie) Previous Graduate Study: Mediterranean Agronomic Instit (Geoinformation in En) Personal Statement The journey of my higher education began with agronomic studies and specialization in soil science at the "Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Agronomie" (Algeria). My interest in GIS and remote sensing applications started growing after a first exposure to precision farming concepts. My passion for technology and innovations in computer science pushed me to further explore these two disciplines. My first Master thesis focused on using SAR data to map surface soil moisture in a semiarid area in Algeria. After that, I got a full scholarship from the international center for higher agronomic studies in the Mediterranean (CIHEAM) and enrolled in the Master of Science program "Geoinformation in environmental management" at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute in Chania (Greece). My thesis work was focused on land cover mapping in the Mitidja plain - North Algeria.
My goal here at SUNY ESF is to develop essential programming skills and a strong numeric and statistical background, necessary to address key environmental issues using remote sensing data. Undergraduate Institution: Syracuse University (INDUSTRIAL DESIGN) Previous Graduate Study: SUNY Buffalo (NATURAL SCIENCES) Graduate Research Topic Fusion of Images for the Human Brain Opportunities for Improved Diagnostic and Surgical Interventions Quote on Graduate Experience "My experience as a graduate student at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry has been tremendously positive. The faculty, including Professor James M. Hassett, have always been exceptionally enthusiastic and supportive of my goal to explore a cross-disciplinary approach to human brain mapping as it relates to neurosurgical diagnostics and intervention. My affiliation and current program of study with SUNY ESF has always been a source of pride to me, and I am looking forward to the fact that my graduate education is not only preparing me to investigate the physical topography of the earth on which we live, but to also go spelunking into the depths of the human brain. The faculty in the mapping sciences program at SUNY ESF have not only made this possible, but have done so with sincere enthusiasm."

Personal Statement Water is both a finite resource and a human right. Understanding this and the fact that steady population growth puts increased stress on its availability, makes the need to take action a high priority.
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering at the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (UTP) and worked at the Hydraulic and Hydrotechnical Research Center of the UTP, as a Researcher in water quality and quantity management, I have several practice experiences including working in research projects such as COL 07-036 Project "Monitoring the effect that specific rain events have on the quality of water supply sources for water treatment in the city of Panama" and conducted the project "Ocean Energy: roadmap and strategies for Panama ". Likewise, I developed my thesis study regarding the Pacora River basin, analyzing the spatial and temporal variation of water quality and assigning specific uses for the water resources in the study areas.

Environmental Management Degree Sought: MPS Advisor(s): Kroll |
Undergraduate Institution: Cairo University (Civil Engineering) Personal Statement After graduation I started working at an Engineering consultancy company as an Environmental engineer. My job comprised the design of underground water utility pressure and gravity networks. During my three year in the job, I grew a decent technical background in the field of hydraulics in addition to being exposed to how large scale projects are being handled and managed. On another note, I have always been interested in social sciences and policy making. Currently, I am trying to focus my research towards areas of overlap between my technical engineering background and my interest in environmental policy issues.
