Community Stewards to Receive ESF’s Feinstone Award

The College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) will honor community stewards by presenting the 2019 Sol Feinstone Environmental Award to Neil and Joanne Murphy, and Joe Martens ('81). (6/24)

Cuomo Announces Initiative to Reimagine Erie Canal as Catalyst for Economic Development, Resiliency

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced a sweeping initiative to examine how the 195-year-old Erie Canal can be reimagined for the 21stcentury in an effort to boost local economies, inspire new opportunities for tourism and recreation, and strengthen environmental resiliency along the historic waterway. ESF COO Joanie Mahoney and alumnus Joe Martens will help lead the effort. (5/17)

ESF Employees Honored with SUNY Chancellor's Awards

Four ESF employees were honored with SUNY Chancellor's Awards. Honorees were Dr. Robert Malmsheimer, Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching; Dr. Melissa Fierke, Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service; Dr. William A. Powell, SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities; and Laura Crandall, SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service. (5/14)

Dr. Jacqueline Frair Presented with Exemplary Research Award

Dr. Jacqueline Frair, associate professor in ESF's Department of Environmental and Forest Biology (EFB), was named the College's Exemplary Researcher for 2019-20. (5/14)

ESF Student Designed Bridge Judged Most Innovative

Four teams of students from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in Syracuse recently competed in the 2019 National Timber Bridge Design Competition. Team Two's Wanakena Ranger School Bridge was chosen the Most Innovative Design winner out of 13 teams representing eight different institutes and universities. (5/14)

ESF College Foundation Honors Daley with Teaching Award

Douglas J. Daley, associate professor in the Department of Environmental Resources Engineering (ERE) and director of the SUNY Center for Brownfield Studies, is the recipient of the 2019 ESF College Foundation Award for Exceptional Achievement in Teaching. (5/14)

2019 Commencement: 'You Are My Family,' Student Speaker Says

"The main reason I chose to attend ESF was because of Earth Week," said Nafisa Tabassum, the student speaker for ESF's 118 Commencement exercises. "I desired to be surrounded by a cohort of others who cared about the environment with the same fiery passion as myself and one whole week dedicated to the enrichment of minds and betterment of improving our world sparked a torch in me that I support to this day."
