SUNY ESF Launches Advanced Program in Environmental Communication, Public Relations

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) launched a new certificate of advanced study in Science and Environmental Communication and Public Relations Management to help environmental professionals, decision-makers and engaged citizens learn how to communicate effectively about some of the most pressing issues of our time. ESF’s Center for Native Peoples and the Environment and The Nature Conservancy Embark on Transformational Partnership

A new partnership between the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry's (ESF) Center for Native Peoples and the Environment (CNPE) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) will serve as a bridge between traditional ecological knowledge and Western scientific approaches, embracing a "two-eyed" way of seeing and informing conservation. Trailhead Café Steps Up Sustainability Effort

Some of the new offerings at ESF's Trailhead Cafe this year are not edible.

The popular eatery in the Gateway Center has a new supply of 1,600 reusable to-go containers - 800 clamshells and 800 soup bowls - that are part of the College's Path to Zero Waste program. (9/14)

ESF in Top 5 of Sierra Magazine Cool Schools List

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) broke into the top 5 of Sierra Magazine's Cool Schools list. For the fifth year in a row, the College is among the nation's top "Cool Schools" as ranked by the national magazine of the Sierra Club. Sierra puts the college at No. 5 among 328 schools surveyed. ESF Chestnut Project Seeks Public Comment

The ESF chestnut project is making steady progress navigating through the federal regulatory system. The United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS) has announced the next step in their regulatory review of the blight-tolerant Darling 58 American chestnut. Dr. John Stella Named Vice President of Research

Dr. John Stella has been appointed ESF's vice president of research. (8/2)

ESF Ranger School Celebrates Commencement

Graduation exercises were held at ESF's Ranger School, in Wanakena, New York May 15. This year's graduating class included 55 students receiving an associate of applied science degrees, with 27 in environmental and natural resources conservation program, 24 in the forest technology program, and four in the land surveying technology program.
