How do I assess thee? Let me count the ways... I grade from the very depth and heart of my spreadsheet (as follows, with apologies to Shakespeare): FOR 345Attendance 5%Lab 35% Two One-hour Exams - 40% (@20% each) Final Cumulative Two-hour Exam 20% FOR 545Final Project or Paper: 10%, B or better required for graduate creditAttendance 5% Lab 30% Final Exam 20% Two One-hour Hour Exams - 35% (@17.5% each) This is the entire source of points for the semester. There is no mechanism to earn 'extra credit' and there is no curve. Scoring 95% earns a solid 'A'. Eighty-five percent will earn a solid 'B' and a solid C is acquired with 75%. If you find yourself below expectations, the time to make adjustments is IMMEDIATELY after the first exam. If you score below 70 on exam 1 (the easiest of the semester) you should be concerned. |
