2013 Fall Meeting Program

2013 Fall Meeting Registration

Spring 2012 Holiday Inn in Danbury, CT on

Thursday and Friday, April 19-20

Your Board of Director’s has again put together an excellent meeting program, with interesting and important topics for kiln operators and managers.   We have also arranged a particularly special opportunity for a very interesting and worthwhile plant tour on Thursday morning of Steinway Piano, folks to whom you will find that kiln drying quality is especially meaningful.  Because of parking and other logistical issues we will travel from Danbury to Steinway using a charter bus.  Further information on Steinway can be found at http://www.steinway.com, and several interesting videos, including items we will be see on our tour, are on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAInt7hIZlU&feature=related.

Our Kiln Operator’s Workshop, technical program and banquet will be at the Danbury, CT Holiday Inn, which is conveniently located shortly off exit 8 of I-84.  From exit 8 head to the south on Route 6 (Newton Road) for about ½ mile where you will see the hotel on the right hand side.   Further detail can be found at www.danbury-hi.com/directions.html.

We have obtained an excellent room rate of $89 s/d, including hot breakfast, and suggest that you call and make your reservations promptly (203/792-4000); our room block and this rate are being held till April 4.  Be sure to tell them that you are with the NEKDA to receive our group rate.

Please mail your preregistration form (enclosed) and check directly to Bill Smith promptly (to be received by April 11).  Note the $15 per person surcharge for late registration.  Call 315/470-6832 or 6880, or email to wbsmith@esf.edu with questions; fax to 315/470-6879.  Also, please note that tour participants are required to preregister.

In these tough economic times it is important to remember that:

Wood is the premier material for manufacturing, building and construction. It is renewable, and produced from a sustainable natural resource. It is strong, lightweight, economical, long lasting and attractive, and is made into countless products desired by society. It is also best used when it has been properly and effectively kiln dried. Because sustained profitability and competitive advantage in the marketplace is most assured by quality kiln drying, we encourage you to participate in NEKDA meetings. The NEKDA Officers and Board of Directors look forward to seeing you in April!
