1998 Spotlight on Graduate and Undergraduate Research at ESF
April 14, 1998
Keynote Address
Dr. Howard Thomas Odum, considered by many to be the father of Systems Ecology, delivered the keynote address for the 1998 Symposium: Spotlight on Graduate and Undergraduate Research at ESF. Professor Odum shared his thoughts on how the science of Ecology has evolved from a natural population- and community-dominated approach towards a systems, energy, and interaction of humans and nature perspective in ways that were unimagined in 1945. This was a rare opportunity to hear a first hand, personal perspective on the development of the science of Ecology from one of the greatest leaders in the field.
