Fall First-Year Student Orientation Schedule — 2020

NOTE: The student schedule is below. There is a separate schedule for families:

Parking for families will be available for Monday ONLY in the Standart Street West Lot Parking Lot at Syracuse University and ESF Lot P22.

2pm – 6pm:  Assisted Move-In at Centennial Hall
5pm – 7pm:  Dinner on the Quad and Resource Fair on the Quad including Orientation Check-In
            Rain Plan:  Gateway Center and Concourse
7:30pm:  New Student Welcome Convocation, Hendricks Chapel
8:30pm:  Magician, Gateway Center
9:30pm/10pm:  Intro to Residence Life at Centennial Hall (Immediately Following Magician)

Thursday, August 27, 2020:  Academic Success Day!
8am – 9am:  Late Orientation Check-In and Academic Packet It Pick-Up, Gateway Concourse
9am:  Introduction to Student Life, Gateway Center
9:45am:  Academic Success at ESF, Gateway Center
10:30am:  Registration Tutorial, Gateway Center
11:30am – 1pm:  Lunch Break with OLs
1pm:  Department Meetings, locations various
2pm – 4:30pm:  Schedule Adjustments, Baker 3rd Floor Computing Area
4:30pm – 7pm:  Dinner Break on Your Own
7pm:  RA Floor Meetings, Centennial Hall
8:30pm:  Playfair, Gateway Center

Friday, August 28, 2020:  Personal Success Day!
9am:  Welcome by Anne/John/Mary in Baker Rooms
9:15am:  Choose Action Network Presents (Jen, Chris, Anthony in Baker Rooms, heard all at once)
10:30am:  Rotating Personal Success Sessions:  Safety and Personal Success (Tom and UPD); Sustainability Champions and Your Role (Sue Fassler/Team); and Alcohol and Other Drugs (Roger)

12pm:  Lunch with Orientation Leaders
2pm:  There's More to My Story:  Introduction to the Office of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (Gateway)

3pm:  Stories of Success:  Students Lead "There's More to My Story", Gateway Center
4pm:  Self-Care and Grounding Closing Activity, Gateway Center

Saturday, August 29:  Community Engagement Success!
9am:  Breakfast and Grab Lunch at Sadler Dining Hall
9:15am:  Introduction to Saturday of Service and Environmental Justice, Gateway Center
10am – 2pm:  Saturday of Service, Locations various: City, County, and State Parks
5pm:  SU Event:  Citrus in the City, Downtown Syracuse in Clinton Square, Buses Depart
8pm – 12am:  SU Event:  Orange After Dark

Sunday, August 30:  Sundae Funday!
Orientation Leaders and RAs take the lead but this would include ice cream and vegan SUNDAES!
