Transfer Student Orientation Schedule — 2019

The schedule below is the Orientation schedule for new Transfer students. The official day of Transfer Orientation is Friday, August 23rd however transfer students are able to attend other events that are geared towards first-year students. If you'd like to join us for the week long First Year Orientation and have an Orientation Leader, that is no problem. Just send an email to studentinvolvement@esf.edu to express your interest and we will sign you up!

Parking permits for the academic year will be issued throughout the weekend through SU's Parking and Transit Services, but purchases must be completed online.

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Trailhead Cafe Open: Gateway Center
8 - 9:30 p.m. Playfair: The Ultimate Icebreaker: Gateway Center — Participate in the largest icebreaker game you will ever play!

Wednesday, August 21 (Optional Events)

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Trailhead Cafe Open: Gateway Center
2 - 3:30 p.m. The Power of Your Story with Mykee Fowlin: Gateway Center — Join us as nationally renowned speaker Mykee Fowlin shares the power of our stories.
3:30 - 4:30 p.m. There's More to My Story: Gateway Center — Living in an inclusive and diverse community is one of the most exciting and valuable aspects of college. During this powerful session, you will hear first-person accounts from current students of their initial experiences in, and feelings about, the ESF community.
7 p.m. Underground Legacy Poets: Gateway Center — Spoken word poetry by local Syracuse artists.
8 - 10 p.m. Dance Party: Gateway Center

Thursday, August 22 (Optional Events)

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Trailhead Cafe Open: Gateway Center
1 - 4:30 p.m. Field Days: Quad (Rain location Gateway Center) — Get to know ESF faculty and learn more about the offerings at ESF by joining them on various tours from a tree tour in Oakwood, to the greenhouse, hydro labs, insects and birding.
4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Inclusive Excellence Welcome Reception: Gateway Center —  The Inclusive Excellence Welcome Reception helps create fellowship among students of different underrepresented backgrounds (i.e. Students of Color, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual, Students with Disabilities, International students, and others who identify as underrepresented). New students who identify as underrepresented will have the opportunity to interact with each other as well as acquire knowledge from faculty, staff, and alumni who want you to succeed. It will also allow new students to learn about the services, programs, and other opportunities available to them.
8 - 10 p.m. ESF Quad Games (Rain location Gateway Center) — Grab your sneakers and get ready for some friendly Quad competition with capture the flag and some other outdoor favorite games.  Inside, join us for some relaxed board games, crafts, and snacks.

Friday, August 23: Transfer Orientation Day

Transfer students will be allowed to park in the Standart Parking Lot at Syracuse University on this day.
