What is a Sustainability Champion?

The goal of the Sustainability Champions program is to amplify sustainability knowledge and practices on campus by leveraging social networks that already exist! This type of Peer-to-Peer information exchange can be powerful and far reaching.

message

Effective Advocate

Sustainability Champion learning sessions will provide information about College sustainability efforts. Champions will help to spread this information on campus by leveraging peer to peer networks. Sessions will discuss ways to effectively increase engagement, raise awareness and demonstrate sustainable practices on campus. Composting and recycling, for example, are two areas where a more engaged and educated campus community can substantially lessen our environmental impact.

medal

Driven to Succeed

Sustainability Champions want to help make ESF the most sustainable College/University in the Country! The STARS (Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment and Rating System) framework measures campus sustainability. ESF is very close to achieving STARS Platinum, the highest possible ranking, which is held by only six institutions in the Country. Help ESF on its Path to Platinum by becoming a Champion!

idea

Idea Sharer

Sustainability Champions will be encouraged to share their perceptions of sustainability on campus and to bring their ideas forward for further development, with assistance from Sustainability staff. Improvements are always possible and Champions are encouraged to provide feedback on current efforts and how they can be made more effective.

passionate

Passionate

The Sustainability Champions program is voluntary and open to all members of the ESF community. So, those who choose to join have already shown their passion! People who choose to come to ESF, either as a student or a member of the faculty or staff, have already taken a step toward making active lifestyle changes to benefit the planet. Becoming a Champion will further that commitment!
