SUNY ESF
Competence
TRINITY works on a variety of basic and applied research approaches that implement clean water, sustainable processes, zero waste strategies, resource repurposing, and adaptation of technology solutions across fields and the disciplines.
TRINITY's major work focus areas are listed below.
Biomass
TRINITY's work focus for the Biomass Segment consists of basic and applied research and development. Research is conducted on a labortory scale and pilot scale at the ESF Department of Paper and Bioprocess engineering's pilot plant and the Cleanwater Educational Research Facility. The facilities allow research in nearly all areas of biomass feedstock processing including preprocessing, anaerobic and aerobic fermentation, recycling and gasification.

Water
TRINITY's work focus for the Water Segment consists of basic and applied research and development. Research is conducted on a laboratory scale and pilot scale at the Cleanwater Educational Research Facility allowing the research in nearly all areas of waste water remediation including but not limited to constructed wetlands, bioreactors, fixed film reactors and decentralized water treatment applications.

Pulp & Paper
TRINITY's work focus for the Pulp and Paper segment consists of basic and applied research and development. A 40,000 sqft (3700 m2) pilot plant allows research in nearly all areas of paper production from preparing the biomass feed stock, chemical and mechanical pulping processes, bleaching, refining, stock preparation, paper testing and small and large scale pilot plant trials with a 12" (300mm) and or 48 inch (1200mm) pilot paper machine.
