GSA Shifting Paradigms: Bernardo Aguilar-Gonzalez, Executive Director of Fundacion Neotropica on "Costa Rica: Greenwashing or Greentopia?"

Event Description: Join us for one of our two Shifting Paradigms speakers this spring as we host Bernardo Aguilar-Gonzalez, environmental lawyer, ecological economist, and the Executive Director for Fundacion Neotropica for his talk entitled, "Costa Rica: Greenwashing or Greentopia?" A reception in 408 Baker will follow.
Mr. Aguilar-Gonzalez has graduate degrees in Applied and Agricultural Economics from the University of Georgia and Agricultural and Environmental Law from the University of Costa Rica. Currently, he is finishing a PhD in Natural Scienes for Development through a collaborative program between Mesoamerican universities. He is the Executive Director of Fundacion Neotropica, one of the oldest and most reputable environmental NGOs in Costa Rica. Bernardo is also adjunct faculty at Northern Arizona University and an Instructor for Universidad Latina, Universidad Nacional and Universidad para la Cooperacion Internacional in Costa Rica (where is also the director of the Masters Program in Ecological Economics). He is the current President of the Mesoamerican Society for Ecological Economics and a Board member of the US Society for Ecological Economics. He has been a Fulbright Scholar and has several publications in the United States, Europe, Latin America and India.
