Research talk by Xiaole Ni: "The Rise of Science-based Environmental Activism in China."
Part of the ESF Department of Environmental Studies Seminar Series.
Ni is a PhD Candidate, Environmental Science (Environmental and Natural Resources Policy), SUNY-ESF. Her talk discusses the "process of profound scientization" of Chinese environmental NGOs over the last decade, as they have taken on that country's increasingly severe air pollution and other environmental health issues. The study draws on dozens of recent interviews and observations in ten Chinese cities.
