Consultant Selected for ESF Presidential Search
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) has selected a consulting firm to assist in the search for the college's next president.
Isaacson, Miller of Boston, a national executive search firm, will help find a successor to Dr. Ross S. Whaley, who has announced his intention to return to teaching. The SUNY Board of Trustees has appointed Whaley as a "university professor," which will allow him to continue serving SUNY in a different capacity.
Isaacson, Miller was formed in 1982 and specializes in locating a wide variety of senior level professionals for positions in fields such as higher education, the environment, health care, community development, and private business. The firm recently assisted in the search for a new president at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which resulted in the appointment of Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, chairman of the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Working with Isaacson, Miller in the search will be the Washington Advisory Group, a firm that acts as a consultant to business, academic, and government leaders. The firm comprises professionals in science, technology, and higher education.
Fifteen New York residents-including several Central New Yorkers-have been named to the search committee. The committee is chaired by ESF Board of Trustees Chair Curtis H. Bauer of Jamestown.
