Saturday, March 31, 2012
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Catherine Cummins Theater, Cazenovia College
An Ecology of Mind is a film about famed biologist Gregory Bateson, whose holistic approach to life, evolution, anthropology, and psychology stood for years as an alternative to the reductionist philosophy that prevailed over much of biology during the 20th century. As we now bump against the limits of this approach, Gregory Bateson's ideas are taking on a new importance.
An Ecology of Mind is produced by Nora Bateson, Gregory Batesons' daughter. Nora Bateson will present her film and join a diverse panel of scholars for a panel discussion to follow. The panel will include Nora Bateson; Dr David Keith, Professor of Psychiatry, Upstate Medical Univeristy (UMU); Dr Rebecca King, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, UMU; Dr David Salomon, Lecturer in Architecture and Design, Cornell University, and Dr Scott Turner, Professor of Biology, SUNY-ESF.
The film and panel discussion will be on Saturday, 31 March 2012, 1-4PM, at the Catherine Cummins Theater at Cazenovia College,16 Lincklaen Street, Cazenovia 13053. RSVP to Rebecca King, Kingrl@upstate.edu.
