Janette Kim is a designer, critic and educator based in New York City. She is a faculty member at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where she directs the Urban Landscape Lab. Her work focuses on design and ecology in relationship to public representation, interest, and debate. Janette has worked in partnership with municipal agencies such as the Metropolitan Transit Authority in New York and the City of Newark, as well as non-profit advocacy groups such as Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. Her extensive work on energy has been rewarded by the Graham Foundation grant and the Van Alen Institute, where she received the New York Prize Fellowship. Kim’s work has been featured on NPR’s ‘Brian Lehrer Show’, Artforum, Architect, Volume, GOOD, and the feature-length documentary The Grove.
