ESF Professor Joins Wetlands Council
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A professor at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) has been appointed to the International Wetlands Coordinating Council for this year.
Richard C. Smardon of Syracuse is chair of the college's Faculty of Environmental Studies and director of the Randolph G. Pack Environmental Institute, which is based at ESF.
The council works to advance wetland conservation all over the world. Council members represent a number of agencies, organizations and universities.
Smardon has been affiliated with ESF for nearly 20 years. He is a member and former chair of the Great Lakes Basin Advisory Council, which advises the governor and the New York Legislature on Great Lakes policy issues affecting New York state.
