Local Students Earn SUNY-ESF Fellowships
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Two students-one from Fayetteville and one from Manlius-have been awarded graduate fellowships at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF).
Richard Greene of Manlius, who received a $12,000 award, is pursuing a master's degree in professional studies in the field of environmental and resource engineering.
Sara Vonhof of Fayetteville, who received a $13,000 award, is pursuing a doctoral degree in forest resources management, with a concentration in policy and management.
Both students received Joachim Graduate Fellowships. The awards are named in honor of the late Herman Louis Joachim, who had a long career in the paper industry in the United States. The awards were based on the students' academic performance and interest in research that focuses on enhancing the profitability and environmental responsibility of the forest products industry.
