SUNY-ESF Conducts Kiln Drying Workshop
January 7-10, 2002
SYRACUSE, N.Y. A kiln-drying workshop will be held at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) January 7-10, 2002, which will focus on drying quality lumber for profit.
The workshop will provide practical knowledge about how wood is effectively kiln dried, and scientific background on related wood properties and drying processes. The course will be of interest not only to kiln operators, but to sales, purchasing, marketing and manufacturing managers. Instruction, by university professors and various industry experts, will be in the classroom and through hands-on lab exercises using the college’s modern kiln.
The workshop is sponsored by the Wood Utilization Service and Faculty of Construction Management and Wood Products Engineering at ESF, in cooperation with the New England Kiln Drying Association.
