ESF Professor in Emmy-Winning Documentary
Charles A. Hall
Charles A. Hall, a systems ecologist at SUNY-ESF, appears in a documentary that won two Emmy awards from the Suncoast chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Hall, an expert on development issues in Costa Rica, was interviewed for an hourlong documentary produced by WKAQ-TV in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The show focused on how Costa Rica is frequently held up as a model for sustainability, but then raised questions about whether this image of the country is based on reality. Hall appears in the show three times, saying the country's current development is not sustainable because of population growth and the need to import food. The documentary won Emmy awards for news-oriented specials and for reporting. Learn more about Hall and his research in Costa Rica HERE.
