SUNY-ESF to Commemorate 9-11 with Living Memorial

Wednesday, September 11, 5:30 p.m.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry will commemorate the events of 9-11 by dedicating a Living Memorial Wednesday, September 11 at 5:30 p.m.

To remember the events of last year and to look toward the future, students, faculty and staff will plant a Carolina Silver Bell tree in front of Marshall Hall on the college’s main campus in Syracuse. The ceremony will also include remarks by college President Cornelius B. Murphy, Jr., a candlelighting ceremony, the unveiling of future plans for the memorial, a musical interlude and a moment of silence. After the tree is planted, those attending will be invited to throw a handful of dirt on the base of the tree in a gesture to connect everyone to the memorial.
