Hawks named CELA Outstanding Administrator

Professor Richard Hawks

SYRACUSE, NY – Richard Hawks, chair of the Faculty of Landscape Architecture, was named Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) 2004 Outstanding Administrator. The award was announced at CELA’s recent meeting in New Zealand.

The award is given to honor a faculty member's long-term accomplishment in a specific area of work.

A graduate of ESF and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Hawks joined the ESF faculty in 1979 following staff assignments as research assistant and research associate at Harvard. He has been chair of the Faculty since 1988.

Hawks, of Syracuse, has numerous professional publications to his credit and is a popular invited lecturer on aspects of design and design education. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), a member of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA), and Sigma Lambda Alpha, the landscape architecture honorary.
