Balsa Bridges Smash and Crash at ESF
16th annual Balsa Wood Bridge Competition
SYRACUSE, N.Y.Teams from seven Central New York middle and high schools will participate Friday, April 8, in the 16th annual Balsa Wood Bridge Competition sponsored by the Student Construction Association at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF). Bridges will be judged according to their weight and the load they hold. The winner will be the bridge with the greatest strength-to-weight ratio. Each school is allowed to bring six bridges for testing.
Teams from the following schools will bring their bridges to ESF: Cazenovia Jr. & Sr. High School, Camillus Middle School, G. Ray Bodley High School, Fulton; Lowville Central School, Milford Central School, Mynderse Academy Middle School, Seneca Falls, and Oswego High School. The competition will begin at 9 a.m. in Room 187 of Baker Laboratory on the ESF campus.
