HOW DO I BORROW LIBRARY MATERIAL?

Material charged on the automated circulation system requires your college ID.

  • Books and theses may be charged out for the semester, subject to a recall after three weeks if needed by another patron.
  • Books on permanent reserve in the reference area and bibliographic center do not circulate.
  • Current periodicals, located in room 103,do not circulate; bound periodicals, located in the north stacks, circulate overnight.
  • Please return library material to the library it was originally borrowed from.
  • See our Borrowing Policies for more information.

HOW DO I RENEW BOOKS ONLINE?

  • You may renew books online through the SUMMIT system by going to the Patron Info page and logging on.
  • Once logged on you will be shown a list of what is currently checked out to you. You may select which titles you wish to renew from this list.

HOW DO I GET RESERVE MATERIAL?

Books and articles placed on reserve for classes are shelved at the circulation desk. Your ID will be held at the circulation desk while you use this material for a 2 hour loan period.

WHY CAN'T I FIND THIS BOOK ON THE SHELF?

Check a number of possibilities:

  • Be sure you have copied the call number correctly, noted a location symbol if there is one (e.g., Moon Library Books. Moon Library Reference...), and checked the status (e.g. CHecked out, Missing...).
  • Books that are checked out to another patron may be recalled for you. You may place a recall request electronically through SUMMIT, the Library's online catalog.
  • If it is not signed out and appears to be "unexplainably off the shelf", fill out a search request card, being sure to include your name and contact information. A thorough search will be made for your request and you will be notified of the results of the search.
