What is IPHE?

IPHE is an acronym for the Interdisciplinary Program in Health and Environment. It is an ongoing initiative to offer prospective students in the health professions a home at the SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry (ESF). It is motivated by an increasing awareness of the importance of environmental factors in the genesis, treatment and management of health of humans, domestic livestock and wild life.

At present, IPHE consists of four parts:

• A Pre-Professional Studies option or a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology in the Department of Environmental & Forest Biology
• Close ties with Syracuse University's Health Professions Advisory Program (HPAP)
• A new Health & Environment option in the Division of Environmental Sciences
• Integrated educational, early admission and guaranteed admission to Upstate Medical University's College of Health Professions
