- Why was it necessary to raise tuition?
- The tuition increase was necessary due to current and anticipated reductions in state support for SUNY coupled with rising costs required to provide a broad range of University services.
- How much will my tuition increase?
- For undergraduate students who are New York State residents, tuition will increase from $4,350 per year to $4,970 per year, or $310 per semester.
- For undergraduate students who are not New York State residents, tuition will increase from $10,610 per year to $12,870 per year, or $1,130 per semester.
- For graduate students who are New York State residents, tuition will increase from $6,900 per year to $7,880 per year, or $490 per semester.
- For graduate students who are not New York State residents, tuition will increase from $10,920 per year to $13,250 per year, or $1,165 per semester.

- When does the tuition increase go into effect?
- The new tuition rates will be implemented for the spring 2009 semester.
- Will I receive more financial aid to help pay for the
tuition increase?
- New York State residents who are currently receiving Tuition
Assistance Program (TAP) awards will in some cases qualify for an
increase in their spring 2009 TAP award. New TAP amounts will
automatically appear on the spring 2009 billing statement.

- New York State residents who do not qualify for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) awards may qualify for additional funding from low-interest student or parent loans from the federal government or student loans from private lenders. Students interested in these sources of funding are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships in order to speak with a counselor.
- Out-of-State residents may qualify for additional funding from low-interest student or parent loans from the federal government or student loans from private lenders. Students interested in these sources of funding are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships in order to speak with a counselor.
- Requests for increased scholarship assistance from SUNY-ESF will
be very difficult to meet due to the College's limited scholarship
resources. Priority for additional scholarship aid will be given
to our highest need students, including those who are facing the
largest increase in new tuition charges.

- How do I get additional aid that I am eligible to
receive?
- Increases in grant or scholarship funding, including the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), will be automatically added to aid packages and applied to spring 2009 tuition and fee charges. Students can review their current aid package or billing statement online at https://wwwinfo.esf.edu/student.
- Students or parents interested in additional federal or private
loan funding should speak with a financial aid counselor to review the
available options.
- How do I contact the Office of Financial Aid and
Scholarships if I have additional questions or concerns?
- If you wish to contact a financial aid counselor, we encourage you to call or e-mail prior to December 24 if possible. College offices may be closed or partly staffed from December 24 to January 5 as staff members take vacation leave, but financial aid counselors will continue to answer e-mail and voice-mail requests throughout this holiday period.
