FOR 357/557 -- Printing ESRI Online courses -- updated 7-aug-07 9:29

You can create your own text from the web modules. Why bother? 1) because that way you end up with a book and 2) it is much easier to do the exercises using a paper version that flipping back and forth between ArcGIS and the instructions. And in the paper copy you can check off what you do whereas every time you flip you have to figure out where you were again.

The best way to make a copy of the online courses is to copy and past them into Word. If you just print the web pages you will end up with a bunch of 1-5 page documents and with pages numbers 1 to max number of pages. Very had to keep in order. To copy and paste do the following:

  1. Open the HTML page
  2. Select the relavent text (you don't need the next and previous stuff - it won't work in Word anyway)
  3. Copy it using the Copy Cmd or Crtl+C
  4. Open the Word document into which you are putting the text (when you create this document be sure to add the name of the module and page x of y in the footer)
  5. Paste it (Paste cmd or Crtl+V)
  6. Check that it looks OK.
  7. Back to the web page and go to the next page
