SUNY ESF
Office of International Education

The Office of International Education (OIE) serves current ESF international students and their dependents as well as current ESF students interested in education abroad. OIE also acts as the emergency point of contact for all ESF faculty-led programs abroad and students conducting research abroad.

ESF hosts graduate and undergraduate students from dozens of countries across six continents, offering a full range of educational opportunities, services and support.

International Students

OIE is the primary on-campus immigration resource available to the ESF international student community. We assist international students with maintaining status and adhering to U.S. immigration laws by providing advice regarding immigration regulations and various immigration–related topics such as employment and travel. OIE provides all immigration document services including initial I-20s/ DS-2019s, SEVIS transfer I-20s/DS-2019s, F-1 and J-1 work benefits (CPT, OPT, Academic Training) and document updates (e.g., I-20 extensions, travel signatures) for active students.

J-1 Scholars

OIE also processes all J-1 scholar exchange visitor requests and advises all scholars, dependents and students on J-1 ESF sponsorship.

Study Abroad

OIE is the primary on-campus resource for students interested in study abroad during their academic program at ESF.  OIE provides information regarding study abroad eligibility requirements, study abroad opportunities, and the study abroad request approval process.

Emergency Point of Contact

OIE serves as the emergency point of contact for all ESF students conducting research abroad and participating in international programs and for ESF faculty taking students abroad. For any questions, please reach out to us at oie@esf.edu. If this is an emergency, please contact 315-470-6666 (University Police) to get a hold of us.
