SPPF Scholarships for Freshmen & Transfers, Fall 2008
Syracuse Pulp and Paper Foundation

The Syracuse Pulp and Paper Foundation, Inc. (SPPF) awards scholarships to undergraduate students enrolled in Paper Science and Paper Engineering at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. SPPF scholarships are based on academic merit, and awards vary based on cumulative grade point average. Scholarships are renewed each semester subject to Scholarship Committee approval.

The following eligibility requirements and restrictions are currently in effect only for students entering the program in Fall 2008 or in Spring 2009

  1. three studentsEnrollment in the Paper Science or Paper Engineering program at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and satisfactory progress toward a BS degree in Paper Science or Paper Engineering as defined by the Faculty of Paper and Bioprocess Engineering in consultation with the SPPF Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors
  2. Scholarships are available to US citizens, permanent residents or resident aliens.  Others may be considered at the discretion of the Foundation depending on availability of funds. The SUNY ESF Director of Business Affairs determines residency.
  3. Freshmen who reside in New York State, and enter into Paper Science or Paper Engineering in the Fall Semester of 2008 will receive $3,000 for each semester of the first year. Out-of-state freshmen who enter into Paper Science or Paper Engineering in the Fall Semester of 2008 will receive $3750 for each semester of the first year. After the first year, scholarships are awarded on a semester basis per the Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements identified below.
  4. The Award Schedule is based on Grade Point Average (GPA) as follows for freshmen and transfer students who enroll in Paper Science or Paper Engineering in Fall 2008:

  1. Scholarships for students transferring into the Paper Science or Engineering Program in the Fall Semester of 2008 are awarded on a semester basis per the above-identified Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements.
  2. For students enrolled less than full time, the above rules apply on a prorated basis.

Please note that the scholarship program may be changed per the recommendation of the Foundation's Scholarship Committee and the approval of the SPPFBoard of Directors. Awards may vary from semester to semester according to available resources.
