Bats & Critters etc

Contact University Police at ext. 6666 if you see a bat in a campus building. They will contact the appropriate individuals on campus to remove the bat safely. Please remember to close your windows and doors at night to prevent the bats from entering campus buildings. The Physical Plant grounds department is responsible for control of other critters, which include mice, moth flies and other insects.

Building Trades

The building trades section consists of the painters carpenters, electrician, and locksmith.

Building and Campus Services

Carpets:

Christine Langlois is responsible for the purchasing, installation, repair and cleaning of carpets on campus.

Communications:

This section of Physical Plant located in the lower level of the Physical Plant building is responsible for phone service, voicemail and data wiring.

Custodial:

The custodial section is responsible for daily cleaning of the campus buildings. Special requests for cleaning may be made by work order. The custodial staff consists of 21 employees.

Emergencies:

If you have an emergency such as a leaking pipe, lack of heat or power, or to report an unsafe condition such as ice on a sidewalk call the Physical Plant. Main office during working hours and University Police at other times.

Event Set-ups:

The grounds section is responsible for special event set-ups. We require 7 days advance notice in writing for special event set-ups with a diagram attached. The college has 30” X 72” folding tables, 72” round tables, folding chairs, coat racks, easels, and poster boards available to meet your set up needs.

Facilities Planning & Construction:

The Facilities Planning and Construction offices are located in the main Physical Plant Building on the upper level. Under the supervision of Brian Boothroyd, this section is responsible for the management and contract administration of all rehabilitation, repair, and new facility projects on the main campus and regional properties. This includes planning, budgeting, design, bidding and construction. Brian Boothroyd is the campus Codes manager, and as such, is responsible for issuing building permits for work on campus.

Grounds:

The grounds department located at the South East end of campus is responsible for the maintenance of our 13 acre campus. Duties include landscaping, mowing, and snow removal. They also are responsible for campus trash removal, recycling, special event set-ups, campus moves and surplus equipment moves.

Key Requests:

Forms for key requests are available at the University Police office in Bray 19. Completed forms should be sent back to the University Police office.

Lock Problems:

If you have a problem with a door, desk or file cabinet lock contact the Physical Plant office at 470-6588. If you have a problem using your ID card to gain access to a building or room contact University Police at 470-6666.

Mailroom:

The mailroom is located in the main Physical Plant building on the lower level. The mail is picked up at the Teale Ave post office each morning. The U.S. mail and inter-campus mail is delivered once a day between 10:00am and Noon. In addition, there is a 2:15pm mail pick up at 122 Jahn and 100 Bray daily. All out going mail needs to be at the ESF campus mailroom by 3:00pm daily in order to be post marked for that day.

Mechanical Trades:

The mechanical trades section consists of plumbers, steamfitters, machinist, and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians.

Property Control:

The Property Control office is responsible for maintaining state property records. It is located in the lower level of the Physical Plant building.

Recycling at ESF:

Each member of the campus community is responsible for following New York State recycling policies and guidelines.

Regional Property Maintenance:

The physical plant is responsible for building & facility maintenance at the Newcomb, Wanakena and Cranberry Lake regional properties. The office of Forest Properties maintains other regional properties.

Shipping & Receiving:

The Shipping and Receiving area is located in the main Physical Plant building on the lower level. The loading dock street address is 307 Stadium Place. Shipments are received and processed daily and deliveries to campus departments are normally made in the afternoon.

Stockroom:

The physical plant stockroom located in the lower level of the Physical Plant building maintains a stockroom of frequently used parts and supplies used by the Physical Plant Department.

Trash Removal:

The custodial department is responsible for collecting trash in each building. The grounds department is responsible for taking the trash to an off campus disposal site.

underneath the Bray/Walters staircase

Marshall located in the basement across from the gallery snack bar
Moon collected by the building janitor
Jahn/Baker located at the Baker loading dock
Physical Plant located at the receiving dock

Vehicle Service Center:

The vehicle service center services a motor pool fleet of more than 50 vehicles and a maintenance fleet of nearly 30 vehicles. The staff services everything from

electric gem cars, hybrid vehicles and trucks to boats and backhoes. The garage is located in the main Physical Plant building on the lower level.

Work Requests:

We have currently purchased a new maintenance management system and are in the process of implementing the system. Once the system is up and running we will be able to provide an on-line work request system. Until this system is up and running, we will still be using the hard copy work order process. Additional work order forms are available by contacting the Physical Plant office at ext. 6588.
