SUNY ESF Brings a Science Fair to the New York State Fair

This year, the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) is bringing its own fair – the ESF Science Fair – to the great New York State Fair. Just like in school, the ESF Science Fair will be filled with hypotheses, experiments, science equipment, lab coats, and scientists.

ESF Receives $745K EPA Grant to Boost Sustainable Building Practices

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) nearly three-quarters of a million dollars ($745,748). The funding will support the creation of tools and guidelines to drive the use of salvaged and recovered building materials for more sustainable construction practices.

The Center for Sustainable Materials Management (CSMM) was honored for its commitment to environmental justice communities, small businesses, and Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWB) throughout New York state by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) New York Upstate. Housed at the SUNY College for Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), the CSMM works to bring industry professionals together to rethink the way materials are managed in New York state.

ESF encourages its community members to prioritize safety and take proper precautions. Faculty, staff, and commuting students are encouraged to leave campus now and should coordinate with their supervisors and faculty if they have any concerns. Non-essential employees must charge appropriate leave accruals if they cannot work remotely and supervisors are encouraged to be flexible when considering time and attendance leave requests.
SUNY ESF Wins Grant to Create Climate Action Research Exchange and Study Abroad Program with University in Colombia

Faculty at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in collaboration with faculty at Universidad Autónoma de Occidente (UAO) in Colombia won a 100,000 Strong in the Americas grant for their proposed Climate Action research project and student exchange program “Communicating Just Rural Transitions in the Americas.” ESF is one of 16 U.S. higher education institutions to win a grant to expand inclusive climate action education, research, and training programs with Colombian universities.
