NYS Residency Application Decision Appeals

Application for Tuition Billing Purposes Appeals Process

Students who have submitted a residency application to the Office of Business Affairs and had their application denied do have a right to appeal the decision as per State University of New York (SUNY) Policy 7810, Section II.E.  Students wishing to appeal the determination of their NYS Residency Application for Tuition Billing Purposes must do so in writing within 14 days from the issue date of the denial letter.

The appeal letter should be addressed and submitted to:

ESF Residency Appeal Committee
SUNY ESF
103 Bray Hall
1 Forestry Drive
Syracuse NY  13210

Letters of appeal should clearly explain the reasons the student believes the determination was incorrect.  Please include any relevant documentation you feel will support your appeal.  You do not need to submit documentation already included in your initial application.

On receipt of the appeal in Business Affairs, the entire application with appeal material is packaged and forwarded to the Residency Appeals Committee. The Appeals Committee meets regularly.  A written letter of determination is sent directly to the student.

The decision of the Appeals Committee will be mailed to your address on file with the College.

All decisions made by the College Residency Appeal Committee are final and cannot be further appealed.
