Afrofuturism and the Environment: Film Screening and Discussion Campus Calendar

Event Description: Join us on April 12th during the College Hour for a viewing of the award-winning short film Pumzi, a Kenyan science-fiction story written and directed by Wanuri Kahiu. After the screening, engage in a discussion of the themes of afrofuturism, the environment, ecocriticism, and scarcity and reclamation facilitated by scholar and librarian Robyn Reed.

Reed is the Head of Access Services at Schaffer Library, Union College. Her research interests include studying the intersection of race and science fiction in film and television, Afrofuturism, and information literacy.

This event is part of the Women in Scientific and Environmental Professions Speaker Series, presented by ESF Women's Caucus and Friends of Moon Library.
