Strategic Plan
In 2022, ESF launched a comprehensive strategic planning initiative to evaluate and update the College’s mission and goals. The document below was the result of this process and has been the basis for campus work. However, and due to shifts in internal organizational structures and the evolution of external factors, the document below is currently being revised, revitalized, and amended to better accommodate campus priorities that meet the moment. In the summer of 2026, Provost Quackenbush assembled a new Strategic Planning Team. This team presented iterations of the new and current live document to the campus, both in forums and through surveys, and has held many meetings and engagement sessions in the fall 2026 cycle. The goal is for the updated ESF Strategic Plan to be completed and approved by January 2027. Stay tuned.
The strategic plan also sets College goals, devise strategies to attain those goals, and identify metrics to measure success. Discussions include where the institution is now (Internal Review), where it wants to be in five years and beyond (Goals), how the plan will be implemented (Strategies), the means used to measure how well the plan has succeeded (Metrics), and what the institution will do if obstacles are encountered (Contingency Planning).
