Environmental Studies Seminar Series:
Engaging Diverse Publics Around Complex Environmental Issues
Matthew Hayek, Harvard Law School
Demystifying the Science of Food and the Environment
February 14th, 2019
213 Marshall Hall
"Dr. Hayek's talk will help separate the wheat from the chaff in the field of food system sustainability. In this seminar, he will help make sense of recent, sometimes contradictory news headlines and scientific reports about agriculture's connection to the environment. Particular focus will be given to the conflicting claims of various food systems stakeholders and how this confusion perpetuates blindspots in climate policy discussions. He will also discuss his own research, which uses scientific models to quantify the connections between what we eat and our policy ambitions to limit climate change."
