Event Description: Dr. Melissa Otis has recently completed a comprehensive study that examines the indigenous people of this area and their relationship with the Adirondacks, both as a landscape and as a culture. Dr. Otis-Dixon will present on the dilemma that indigenous populations faced trying to maintain unique cultural identities while also being assimilated into European-American communities.
