Provost, Student Marshals Lead Procession for Installation
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Provost William P. Tully and two student marshals will have lead roles in the installation of Dr. Cornelius B. Murphy, Jr. as the third president of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF).
Student marshals are Wellington Guzman and Shannon T. Kress.
As provost, Tully oversees ESF's academic mission, including instruction and graduate studies, research and non-resident programs such as continuing education and extension. He also holds the title of vice president for academic affairs.
Tully has been a member of the ESF faculty since 1966.
Guzman, a resident of New York City, is a junior majoring in environmental and forest biology. He is vice president of the ESF Baobab Society, a multicultural, environmentally conscious student organization.
Guzman is a 1998 graduate of the Manhattan Center for Science and Math.
Kress is a resident of Greece, near Rochester. She is a senior at ESF, majoring in the college's dual program in forest ecosystem science. She is president of the Alpha Xi Sigma honor society and works as a student assistant to faculty members who teach calculus classes.
Kress is a 1997 graduate of Odyssey High School. She has worked as an industrial hygiene lab technician for Eastman Kodak. Last spring, she worked as an intern with the environmental affairs department of Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.
