Engineers With Appetites Returns to ESF

Proceeds to fund club’s international projects

Engineers with appetites and others who enjoy a good meal for a good cause are invited to the Third Annual Engineers with Appetites dinner April 1.

Hosted by ESF's Engineers for a Sustainable Society, the dinner is designed to raise money for the group's international projects, said Samantha Meserve, a junior environmental resources engineering (ERE) major.

Engineers for a Sustainable Society currently has two active projects: a water filtration project in Honduras, and a picohydro generator and solar panel project in Peru.

During spring break, some club members traveled to Haiti to meet with three potential partner organizations and evaluate projects in that country. Money raised from the dinner will go to fund all three ventures.

The dinner will be held in the Gateway Center, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and a sit-down dinner and speakers beginning at 6 p.m. Event speakers are ESF President Quentin Wheeler; Ana Flores, a senior ERE major and club president; and Travis Mayo of the United States Agency for International Development. The evening will also a raffle; the prize is a travel basket. "The basket includes items students have collected while traveling abroad," said Meserve. The items came from Mexico, Peru and Haiti. "It's a really nice prize."
