Regalia Reuse Program
As part of the process of submitting for the Plastics Reduction Partnership Certification Program, the Office of Sustainability launched its Regalia Reuse Program.
The goal of this program is to allow graduating seniors to rent graduation caps and gowns, for free, that have been donated by ESF Alumni. On average, commencement regalia is worn for about 90 minutes and is then either stored or discarded. Through the Regalia Reuse Program, these gently used garments have been given new life while also removing potential economic barriers to graduating students.
Since the program launched during the 2023–2024 Academic Year, four December 2023 graduates and thirteen May 2024 graduates wore rented regalia to their commencement ceremonies!
If you are an ESF Alumni and would like to donate your cap and/or gown, you can either
bring them to the Office of Sustainability, if you’re local, or ship them to:
Office of Sustainability
1 Forestry Dr.
Syracuse, NY 13210
Please make sure regalia is gently used and free of any heavy perfumes/colognes, stains,
holes, etc.
