The Maple Leaf Award, given by faculty and staff to graduating students in recognition of significant volunteer service to the College community, was presented to Colleen Gallagher, environmental studies; Justin Sutera, environmental and forest biology; Rosalia Lucero, environmental studies; and Jessica Ortiz, environmental studies. Recipients of the award receive a handsome bronze maple pin.

The Robin Hood Oak Award is given by ESF students to recognize a senior who has made outstanding contributions to the College and general public. The recipient is chosen by a committee of ESF students. This year's honorees were Alexander Bishop, environmental resources engineering; Gallagher, Lucero, and Nathan Hudson, environmental and forest biology.

The President's Awards for Community Service are presented annually to one faculty or staff member, one student and one student organization. The award for a faculty or staff member recognizes the efforts of an instructor to incorporate service-learning into course curricula and/or the efforts of a staff member to involve students in community service. This year's recipient was Dawnelle Jager, instructor in the Environmental Studies Writing Center.

The President's Award for Individual Service by a student recognizes significant volunteer service to the local community. Recipients of this honor have served the community beyond ESF in a significant way by helping to meet identified community needs. This award was presented to Gallagher.

The Green Campus Initiative received the club award which is presented to the student organization that has consistently championed the benefits of community service through its actions and activities.

The December Soiree is a semi-formal dinner dance to which all students, family, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate ESF's December graduates. It is held the same weekend as December Convocation. The event is organized by ESF students, with Alice Gallagher '12, environmental studies, chairing the event this year.
