Cross Country: Men First, Women Second at Cazenovia

The ESF Mighty Oaks men's cross-country team finished first in the Cazenovia Homecoming Invitational Race Sept. 29 as ESF sophomore Timmy Callahan won the race and set a course record with a 27:22. The previous record was by ESF's Brian Busby, with a 28:04.

The Mighty Oaks women finished second in their race.

In the men's race, Taylor Yerrick followed Callahan. Yerrick had the best race of his season, and placed fourth overall. Other runners who placed were Stephen Slonosky, sixth; Brian Busby, seventh; Jeremy Driscoll, 14th; Peter LeDuc, 15th; Jon Cleveland, 17th; Jacob Wolfgong, 21st; Andrew Gritzmacher, 23rd; Kai Crannell, 24th; Malcolm Moncheur, 25th; Ethan Washburn, 26th; Matt DeLuca, 31st; Caleb Rudge, 39th; James McKenna, 40th; Collin Bartholomew, 47th; Taylor DellaRocco, 52nd; Matt Glaub, 60th; Nich Greico, 65th; and Nathan Sleight, 66th.

The women's team was led by Cambria Ziemer, who finished third overall. She was followed by Kristen Campbell, ninth; Emily Martin, 11th; Casey Cole, 12th; Jenny Frank, 14th; Danielle Kaveney, 16th; Danielle Zgardinski, 19th; Cara Keogh, 20th; Radka Yang, 25th; Liz Bourguet, 27th; and Amber Antonison, 41st.

The effort by the women's team was outstanding, given that several of the runners were ill. This race was a great test of their character and they passed with flying colors.

The teams race again Oct. 13 in Geneva at the Cross-Country Only College Race.
