Ph.D. Student Jenny Frank Featured Presenter on Biodiesel

Jenny Frank, a sustainable energy Ph.D. student, will be a featured presenter in the live Zoom event, Science, Live: Meet Student Biodiesel Scientists Making an Impact! from 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 10.

This live Zoom event features four students serving as the new co-chairs of the Next Generation Scientists for Biodiesel, improving the world through science.

Frank, in ESF's Department of Sustainable Resources Management, conducts in techno-economic analyses for renewable energy pathways.

"To reduce the probability of catastrophic climate change, the world economy needs to quickly decarbonize," she explains. "This analysis quantifies the financial and greenhouse gas emission impacts of investing early in a mature and commercialized biomass-based diesel [biodiesel and renewable diesel] decarbonization technology, versus waiting five years and investing in an immature and not yet commercialized battery-electric pathway," said Frank in a profile on the National Biodiesel Board blog.
