At SUNY ESF, Get Double the Opportunities

When you enroll as a student at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), you’ll also have access to amenities at Syracuse University (SU). As we like to say: ESF is a small college with access to big university benefits.

ESF and SU have enjoyed a partnership dating back to our founding in 1911 – and that partnership remains strong today. As an ESF student, you have access to the following at SU:

Take up to 16 elective courses at a discounted price.
Credits for SU courses required for an ESF major will be provided to students at no extra cost. Credits for SU electives taken by students will be charged to our students at the deeply discounted rate of $355/credit hour. This represents tremendous value for the quality of the classes offered and the caliber of the faculty at SU – and a nice way to offset the environmentally focused courses at ESF.

Use library, computer, and recreational facilities.
In addition to ESF’s Moon Library, students can use any of SU’s five libraries. On top of using computers in ESF’s 15 computer labs and common spaces, students can utilize any one of SU’s many computer labs. Many ESF students frequent SU’s Barnes Center at the Arch, where they have access to fitness equipment, a climbing wall, an esports gaming center, fitness classes, a pool, and more!

Join student clubs, Greek life, music, and artistic groups.
ESF has more than 40 student clubs and organizations – the majority of which have an environmental or sustainability focus – but students who want even more variety can join any club, Greek organization, or music and artistic groups right across Forestry Drive.

Participate in intramural athletics and club sports.
ESF has a dozen Mighty Oaks athletics teams – from Timber Sports and Bass Fishing to soccer and cross country – and SU balances out the offerings for students with intramural athletics and club sports such as swimming, curling, kickball, and dodgeball.

Attend events.
If you love to keep yourself booked, there are more than enough events for a fulfilling social life when you combine ESF’s calendar with SU’s! ESF students can cheer on the Orange at the Dome, participate in a variety of events, and so much more.

Tap into student resources.
We are firmly invested in the success of our students. ESF offers guidance and resources to help position students for success, including academic support, mental health resources, and career services. Students can also tap into resources at SU, such as faith-based communities and disability services
