ESF to Host Family Weekend 2024

SYRACUSE, NY – Oct. 24, 2024 - The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) welcomes families and friends to campus this weekend for Family Weekend 2024—a tradition that brings together students and their loved ones for a celebration of community, nature, and campus life.

Family Weekend provides a unique opportunity for families to reconnect with their students, explore ESF’s scenic campus, and experience the charm of autumn in Central New York. It’s a time for students to showcase their "home away from home" and share the people, places, and passions that shape their college journey.

“We’re always delighted to welcome families for this special weekend,” said ESF President Joanie Mahoney. “It’s heartwarming to see students proudly introduce their families to the Mighty Oaks community, and it offers a wonderful opportunity for families to spend quality time with their students.”

The weekend is packed with activities that highlight ESF’s unique programs and close-knit campus culture. Highlights include tours of the pollinator gardens and Roosevelt Wild Life Collection, a crafters and clubs fair, the fall timber sports meet, and the ESF’s signature activity - tie-dye T-shirt making for the whole family.

Family Weekend 2024 will conclude with a campus-wide pancake breakfast, complete with ESF-produced maple syrup.
