ESF Student Honored with Spirit of SUNY SA Award
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Dec. 4, 2024 — Eden Gardner, a senior at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) has been recognized with the Spirit of SUNY SA Award.
The award honors students who demonstrate exceptional contributions and dedication to the SUNY Student Assembly and the broader SUNY community. Gardner, of Forest Hills, New York, is a senior environmental studies major with a law and policy focus. He is president of the ESF Student Government Association, director of sustainability for the SUNY Student Assembly, founder/president of the ESF Pre-Law Society, student assistant in ESF’s Office of Sustainability, and plays for the Syracuse University Rugby Club.
Active in student government since 2022, Gardner plans to pursue a career in sustainability after graduating in May, followed by law school.
"Eden’s leadership and dedication to ESF and the SUNY community have made a real difference in both arenas,” said ESF President Joanie Mahoney. “Whether advocating for sustainability, leading his peers, or building new opportunities for students, Eden has embodied the values of ESF. We are proud of all Eden has achieved and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll continue to make in the future."
