The Munich University of Applied Sciences (HM) is the largest university of its kind in Bavaria and one of the largest in Germany. Its great variety of well-structured study programs, instruction in small groups, its internationality and excellent contacts with industry and commerce make it a highly renowned university.

Munich is one of the leading economic regions in Europe and renowned for its educational landscape. The city is home to over 20,000 high-tech firms, a range of major banks and insurance companies, market leaders in the media sector and specialist branches of industry. In this environment the University of Applied Sciences - München developed a high-quality, differentiated, and application-oriented program. Additional information about exchange student services at HM is available online.

Students typically find that it is easy to get around Munich using public transportation, bike, or walking. The public transportation system offers a semester ticket to university students for approximately 200€ for the entire semester.

In addition to exploring the many historical and cultural attractions in Munich, many students choose to visit different areas of Germany including Berlin, the Black Forest for hiking, and more. It is relatively easy to travel in Europe via train or bus, which is both a more sustainable and economical option than renting a car! Munich is a great city to live in, especially as a student.

HM offers many courses in English, as well as German language courses for non-native speakers. Access full lists of courses in English.

Housing

HM has a limited number of rooms reserved for exchange students at the Studentenwerk, a privately-owned student residence. You can request a room when you submit your exchange student application, but placement is not guaranteed. If you are not placed in a room at the Studentenwerk, or wish to live elsewhere, HM is able to assist you in locating a flatshare or student apartment.

It is important to note that there is no "on-campus" housing the way we are used to here in the United States. Housing options will be located throughout the city, and you will be responsible for buying groceries, cooking, etc.
