Graduate Degree Programs
Master of Engineering (M.E.)

ESF's Master of Engineering degree in Environmental Resources Engineering adds value to your career.

Housed within the Department of Environmental Resources Engineering (ERE), the highly flexible, M.E. program offers a unique, customizable, practice-oriented course of study focused on engineering design and project management. The degree provides you with a means to advance your engineering knowledge coupled with project management and business skill building culminating in a value-added, team-based capstone design experience.  The M.E. program will strengthen and broaden the technical training you acquired with your undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree and provided you with management and business perspectives needed for a successful career.

The program is designed to advance your engineering career filling the educational gap between the bachelor's degree in engineering and professional licensure, and qualifies to provide one year of experience credit towards professional licensure status. Given the breadth and depth of knowledge demanded of engineers today, several professional organizations advocate for education and experience beyond the traditional bachelor's degree. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) both recommend a master's degree in engineering as the base educational requirement for licensure.

Engineering course work will be highly customized for your needs and interests drawing from courses across ERE's five graduate degree options (ecological engineering, environmental engineering, environmental resources engineering, geospatial information science and engineering, and water resources engineering) as well as other engineering courses offered by ESF and Syracuse University.  Additionally, the degree provides engineering project management and professional practice coursework within the ERE Department coupled with business electives offered at ESF and Syracuse University.  The M.E. Program offers you the ability to build a degree curriculum that fits your schedule, meets your academic goals, and adds value to your career.
